I arrived at my new host house on Thursday June 18, 2009. I have never been to Omaha, NE before, I hope I like it.
The dollies here seem very friendly, there were 3 of them who had been sitting out on the front porch for hours watching for the mailman to arrive with me. I could hear them clapping and cheering when the mailman carried my travel box up the walk to their house. They pushed my travel box from the screened in front porch, and even got one of the big cats who live here to help them move the box into the living room.
There was some delay getting me out of that box though, it seems that one of the seams of the box had torn open. I could hear them worrying whether I had fallen out of the box in transit or if some of my items had gotten lost along the way. I also heard the sound of strapping tape as Lily Nicole fixed the box up so there won't be any worries when I have to travel on to my next spot. I just want to get out of this box, I have been cooped up in here for so long now.
Finally they open up the outer box... ah sweet freedom at last! Oh, but what is this? These dollies are talking about a Traveling Kaya, who is that? Don't they know my name is Kit? A doll by the name of Kaya comes running into the room thinking that I am a Traveling Kaya doll (whatever that is) and then she proceeds to stand over my box staring down at me in disbelief saying "You are not Traveling Kaya, but your box says Kaya on it".
Whatever. Get me out of this box now please. They determine that the mix-up must have occurred because Kaya and Kit both begin with the letter K. OK, that sounds possible. Poor Kaya was seemed upset for a minute or two, but then she perked up at the thought of meeting a Traveling Kit doll. I guess they do not have a doll like me living here. So the dollies think I am very special and are so glad I came to visit! Kaya seems like a very sweet dollie, I think we will become good friends. She introduced me to Lily Nicole and Diane, they both seem very nice too.
Then Kaya introduced me to the kitties, they sure have a lot of cats here in Omaha! Kaya told me that they had more cats but one of them got very ill last month and was no longer with them except in spirit. I saw some pictures of Ginger, she looked like she was a nice cat, the dollies seem to miss her still. I met Mr. Screetchy who is a big yellow cat, and Kelly who is a big fluffy black & white cat. You have to be careful of Kelly the dollies warned me, he sometimes will bite if you go to pet him, YIKES! Mr. Curtis is the black cat who helped me get inside the house. Baby is a small little cat who seems very sweet, they tell me she is shy but she must really like me! Mitchy is the oldest cat in the house, he mostly likes to sleep as I found out. He came up to meet me and then promptly took a nap on my legs.
Kaya told me that the dollies have some very special things planned while I am here which sounds like fun! Meanwhile Mitchy is still sleeping...
While I am stuck sitting here waiting for Mitch to wake up, you can view the photo album they made of my arrival in Omaha, NE: http://picasaweb.google.com/xmaskat/TravelingKitArrives#
